SWITCHES

In 2019, the Naevy switch project was our first development into switches. At the time, the tactile switch market was been stagant and without any innovation and required acquisition of multiple switches to be put together - increasing over cost, plastic waste and effort. The aim of the Naevy switch is to create a new type of tactile - affordable and good as a stock switch. The stem is an original mold owned by AEBoards and it uses a panda derivative housing (most commonly used for tactile switch modding). All funding was paid for by AEBoards without any GB money involved - we believe in our product and shouldered the risk for this project.

As we progressed through the years, we have added additional switches to our line up. The Raeds are the linear version of the Naevies, being a linear feeling but extended pole, for earlier bottom out and louder sound. The Blaecks are our version of MX Black, a normal length linear experience.

As of 2022, we’ve had several iterations with improvements along the way. We now have regional distributors and lowered the cost of switches so we have less barriers for our customers to enjoy these switches. We’ve tried POM, UHMW PE, our own customed mixed PE in our stems, remade the bottom housing mold to support 5 pin (previously 3 pin from ‘panda’ design), remade the top housing to remove the led gap to provide a tighter top, and one of the first switches to introduce double springs as a standard. We’ll keep trying to push forward with this switch design and looking forward to your feedback and hope you enjoy them!

Naevies

Tactile Stem:

MX Clear-like bump with extended pole

  • Bottoms out a little bit earlier and moves the bump to mid/mid-top. These will feel software than Holy Pandas, and should provide a similar feeling to Clears (with a different bump profile)

  • These stems have a different bump to halo stems and don’t feel like Holy Pandas.

  • This stem mold is owned by AEBoards

Housing:

Panda derivative

Pandas have become synonymous with “tactile”, and for the most part, most tactile builds will have this style of housing.

Round 1 - Nylon Bottom , Polycarb Top, 3 PIN

Round 1.5 - Nylon Bottom, Polycarb Top, 3 PIN

Round 2 - Nylon Bottom , Custom Nylon No-LED Top, 5 PIN

Stem:

Round 1 - POM (stock) & UHMW PE (installed by user)

Round 1.5 - Custom Mixed UHMW PE (aka. MPE)

UHMWPE is one of the smoothest plastics however this material suffers from shrinkage rates. Our solution was to create a MPE that enables us to get smoothness and good shrinking rates. However, it is more brittle when forces are applied sideways and there may be some issues with keycaps tolerances depending on the keycap manufacturer

Linaer Stem:

Smooth stem with extended pole.

  • Bottoms out a little bit earlier.

  • Adds tolerances for keycaps with north facing switches.
